Details. Details. Details. They can drive you crazy. How many times have you bought something and couldn’t get it put together or get it to work? Did you read the instructions? It’s in the details. If you sew, could you do it without a pattern? Success is in the details. When you are trying to find out the truth of a situation from someone, you want the details. It’s all in the details.
It is the same in our spiritual life; it’s in the details. Throughout the Bible God gives patterns or details. He is very specific as to what he wants and how he wants it. Look at the creation of man, God used a pattern, He created man in his own image (Genesis 1:26). Then when we move to Exodus it is full of the commands of God on how and when he SHALL not should be worshiped. Exodus 24:1-18 tells of Moses being called to the mountain and God giving him the Ten Commandments. “Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and ALL THE RULES.” God gave Moses specific instructions on how everything was to be done. He covered all the details. He wanted everything done the same way. In Leviticus, we find God giving Moses more instructions on his appointed feasts. Did he not tell Noah the exactly how he wanted the ark built? It’s in the details. God is all about the details. He is doesn’t want to hear: “Well I kinda sorta did that” or “Well I did what you wanted but not how you wanted it.” Folks, God is OCD when it comes to his word and wants.
In the New Testament He lays his plan of salvation out for us. He gives us examples of what to do and what not to do. He is very specific in his requests from us. Hear, Believe, Repent and be Baptized AND continue to live the life he has laid out before us. The Bible is his instruction Book. It is his detail! You have to follow it exactly or at the end you may have a screw left over or one missing. What will you do then? The door to eternal life won’t work if a part is missing. I have had people to say to me, I don’t like what you believe. It’s not fun to be a Christian, the way you practice. Your church isn’t any fun because there is not music or swaying or play-acting. Well, I can understand the need to be entertained but that was not the purpose of worship. True worship is not “entertaining”. Nowhere in God’s instructions does it say to come and be entertained. In fact Revelation 22:18-19 says: “For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book. If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in the book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” He wants it done exactly is way.
It’s in the details. Have you read the instructions?
Have a Blessed Day
